Your Notion Budget Tracker Feature Overview
Everything you need to know to make the most out of this Notion Budget Tracker Template.
Your Notion Budget Hub
The main page of the template provides you with a birds-eye view of everything that’s going in in your finances. See your account totals, month-by-month breakdowns and additional analytics or use the Quick Actions to enter or update your transactions.
Reminders for upcoming subscriptions
Let’s be honest – we all might have a few too many subscriptions.
(last year, I spent more than $26,000 to run my Notion Consultancy…)
So to help you cancel subscriptions in time, you can mark transactions as recurring and get an automated reminder at the top of your Notion Budget Tracker Dashboard that it will soon occur again. You can specifically highlight it as “to be cancelled” or simply be informed that it’s due soon.
Too bad we can’t cancel them directly from Notion (yet).
Action Station
The other half of the two-column layout at the top of your dashboard is reserved for a few quick actions. You’ll find the Start Here guide for the initial setup, a dedicated view to help categorise transactions or add new ones plus the help docs.
Tip: Make this Notion Budget Tracker Template your own and add a few quick actions that you often need. Link to other pages in your setup or use Notion Buttons to add specific transactions within seconds.
Mobile-Friendly Design
Using Notion on mobile can be tough – particularly with dashboards that are designed for larger screens. To make it easier to check your transactions on the go, I’ve included a dedicated Mobile View.
And thankfully, Notion Forms are fully responsive, so adding a new transaction from your phone is super easy.
Want to add transactions even quicker? Check out this Quick Capture for Notion shortcut that can be adapted to add transactions instead of notes.
See your finances at a glance in Notion
This budget tracker provides a complete overview of your personal finances. Whether it’s past and upcoming transactions, current balances, monthly/yearly summaries, or expenditures by category, you’ll have all the key information at your fingertips.
Transaction Details
With this Notion Budget Tracker, you can keep track of every detail for each transaction. Here, you can log the date, category, month/year, recurring date, and, of course, the transaction amount — all in one place.
Don’t want to add these manually? No problem! You can actually connect your bank account to Notion and automatically import transactions – or extract payments from credit card statements on auto-pilot.
Notion Form to Add Transactions
One of the most exciting features of this template is the ability to add new transactions without even opening it. Using the Notion form feature, you can quickly input transactions directly into your budget tracker from anywhere!
Multiple Bank Accounts
Managing multiple bank accounts is super easy with this Notion budget tracker. Simply add a new entry in the Account section, and you’re all set! You can even view transactions and overall status account by account.
Workflow And Help Section
Although this budget tracker is quite straightforward, a dedicated FAQ and Help section are included whenever you’re stuck and you might need assistance. Plus, the Start Here page is there to guide you through setting everything up.
Charts And Graphs
If you’re a paid Notion user, you can use the included Notion Charts for in-depth insights. This tracker includes multiple charts and graphs to help you understand your income and expenditure by category, allowing you to make smarter financial decisions based on real data.
And don’t worry if you’re on the free plan and only have access to one chart in your workspace. There are plenty of additional analytics in the template that work without charts to give you a quick overview of all transactions.
How To Automate Your Notion Budget Tracker
One of the biggest challenges with any type of tracker, whether it’s for your budget, recurring tasks or projects in your client portals, is to actually enter the data.
If you’re disciplined enough, the Notion Budget Tracker allows you to manually capture all transactions. But if you want to add a little bit of automation magic, you can leverage two other tutorials to do so:
- How to import your bank transactions to Notion
- How to import invoices or credit card statements to Notion
Oh and if you prefer a spreadsheet to manage your finances rather than doing so in Notion, check out Rows!
