The Notion Skills API downloads the skills your team keeps in Notion as standard skill directories, so agents outside Notion, from Claude, ChatGPT and Grok Bot to local coding agents, run instructions that teammates edit as ordinary Notion pages.
Three endpoints do the work. List plugins (GET /v1/ai/plugins) returns the plugins a connection can see: every value of a skills database’s Tags property becomes one plugin, and an untagged skill becomes a plugin of its own, each with a version_id that only changes when its contents change, so a sync can skip what it already has. Get plugin (GET /v1/ai/plugins/{id}) and Get skill (GET /v1/ai/skills/{id}) return a signed URL to a gzipped tar archive holding SKILL.md plus the files attached through the skill’s Files property, in the Agent Skills and Agent Plugins formats; a plugin holds at most 100 skills. Requests need a connection token or personal access token with the Read content capability and the header Notion-Version: 2026-03-11, and only skills shared with that connection come back. Notion’s open-source starter repository, makenotion/notion-skills-github-sync, keeps a GitHub plugin marketplace in step with the workspace, so Claude, ChatGPT or Grok Bot install from it with their own slash-menu invocation and admin installation controls.
To install a skill locally without any code, use Vercel’s skills CLI: npx skills add followed by the URL of the skill page installs that one skill, and npx skills add notion browses the plugins in your workspace and installs the ones you pick.
